Take a Picture! – The Jump Shot

Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Photo Prompt

Wordsmith Studio Logo Banner

Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Photo Prompt!  Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your photographing pleasure.  When you get a good shot (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram or Twitter. Then come back and post a link to your photo(s) in the comments.

This Week’s Theme is:  The Jump Shot

The tandem jump shot.

The jump shot photo is as simple as it sounds.  Take a picture of someone jumping.  If you want to get fancy, bust out your tripod, set a self-timer and try taking some self-portrait jump shots.  If you’re more comfortable behind the lens, then ask your kids, your friends, your spouse or random people on the street if they’ll jump for you.  Bonus points for dramatic backdrops.

As you’ll soon discover, the jump shot is a great way to practice capturing action in a photograph.  It will also make you smile, laugh, and feel a little bit lighter.

Take a Picture!

So round up some subjects and get shooting!  (If you need any tips, check out this handy guide to jump shot photography.)

Magical, isn’t it. Time standing still in a breath-taking location. Now if I could only take a decent picture. Can’t wait to see the resulting collage.

I think people could get really creative with it. I’m looking forward to see what everyone comes up with!

An experiment in jumping and shooting, with a camera of course.

Okay, I cheated a little by using photos I already had. But these are two of my favorites, so I hope it’s okay. (Crazy week!)
