Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Photo Prompt
Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Photo Prompt! Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your photographing pleasure. When you get a good shot (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back and post a link to your photo(s) in the comments.
This Week’s Theme is: One
This week’s task is to find and focus on one single thing that you usually see in groups. I tried all winter to get a photo of a single snowflake. You never see single snowflakes. They fall to the ground, usually in clumps, and just make a solid white blanket.
Tuesday, finally, I got one and this is how I did it.
It’s been just above freezing lately, so my deck and the rug just outside my sliding glass back door was too warm to let the snow accumulate. With my zoom lens zoomed all the way in, I can get about a 6″x4″ area of my rug in the viewfinder. So I put my camera on the tripod for stability and watched my little patch of rug, waiting for snowflakes to fall in that tiny area so I could snap a picture. After about one hour, and 100 photos, I finally got one with a single, clear snowflake.
Take a Picture!
Okay, I’m not asking you to do anything quite so difficult. Just go out and find a group of something: trees, blades of grass, a bunch of flowers, a place crowded with people, animals, or insects. Then single out just one and zoom in on it, way in. If you don’t have a zoom lens, just get close. Really close. Snap a photo and share it with us!
Do you have suggestions for future “Take A Picture!” posts? Leave us a comment, or email us here. We ♥LOVE♥ feedback!
Be sure to come back next week for more fun and new inspiration, and check out our Photography group posts every other Monday. Also, watch for a collage of “One” photos taken by our contributing members!!
