Take a Picture! – The Moon

Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Photo Prompt

Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Photo Prompt!  Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your photographing pleasure.  When you get a good shot (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back and post a link to your photo(s) in the comments.

This Week’s Theme is: The Moon

moon close

The full moon will be here on Friday night, but it will pretty much look full Thursday and Saturday as well. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and let you see it.

I’ve had some friends tell me that they have a lot of trouble photographing the moon. And I understand. It’s a really bright dot in really dark sky. That makes it important to get the exposure just right.

If you’ve been around this website for a while, you might remember that I did a four-part series on exposure last year. The most helpful part for this prompt will probably be the one on shutter speed.

Take a Picture!

Go check out the posts on exposure if you need a refresher. Then get out there in the dark and point your camera at the sky.

I can’t wait to see what you get.

If you don’t like to take pictures, grab a pen or your computer and write a poem, flash fiction story, or memory about the moon.

Be sure to check back next week for more fun and new inspiration. Also, watch for a collage of “Moon” photos taken by our contributing members!!

It’s been cloudy here for so long I can’t recall what the moon looks like! 🙂

Hopefully, it will clear up for at least a little while this weekend.

Love it! And the poem, too. Esp. the line: “chasing the moon, instead of sorrow”. Fantastic.

The clouds were lined up next to the moon last night in such a way that they formed a profile and the moon was the eye. Unfortunately I was driving and by the time I could pull over to get a picture, the clouds had shifted. Still looking for my moon shot. All of yours are great!

Oh, I hate when that happens! But that’s part of the fun of photography, too: to capture an image that’s only available for a short time. 🙂
