A LETTER OF INTRODUCTION!
WSS has reached a milestone. It seems like just a few days ago that we waved goodbye to our faithful Steering Committee who served us for an entire year, sacrificing time and energy to bring us all together. You’ll still see them lurking in the corners, popping their heads up once in awhile. Give them some love.
Thank you, SC team–Lori, Amy, Khara, Carol, Linda, Brook, and April.
Today we would like to introduce your new administrators—The Wordsmith Studio Advisory Group–WAG for short. Becca, Dana, Kasie, and Janice.
As a way to get to know us intimately, we’ve put together short, mostly true, bios.
Becca: Becca spends her days chasing toddlers and drinking a lot of chocolate coffee. When she gets a couple minutes to breathe, she likes to write REALLY short fiction and take pictures, usually sharing them on her blog.
Dana: By day Dana is a mom, referee, chauffeur, nurse, psychiatrist, and much more to her three young boys. By night she loves to read and write poetry/fiction. She also slips in some photography when she can. She’s addicted to coffee and long, hot baths… oh, lets not forget the internet.
Kasie: When she’s not running her own business, finishing her PhD, chasing her five-year-old around, swimming laps, running the streets of Columbia, S.C., or drinking too much wine, you’ll find her in the Tweet Chats. Oh, wait, there’s wine there, too. She writes fiction and anything anyone will pay her to write.
Janice: Janice’s toddler chasing days are over. Now she chases the last of her litter—a high schooler. And she chases pie. And time. And this really long dream she once had of writing before she completely loses her mind. Most days you’ll find her chugging Dunkin Donuts coffee immersed inside a poem, a novel, or song lyrics.
Hear us as we offer you all a collective hello!
We have met only a few times but you may have already noticed some changes that have been implemented as per results of the polls.
To begin with:
On the WSS website:
- Layout changed to a magazine style pic with beginning of post.
- Added an email subscription button, FB Page “Like” button, Twitter “follow” button, cute share buttons for all posts.
- Added auto-share new posts to FB Page and Twitter page.
- Disabled forums. It has helped speed up the site.
- The stats tracker has been changed to one that is more accurate.
We are also restructuring the way the website will be utilized to be more efficient and streamlined. Therefore, we are inviting everybody to participate in writing blog posts on the new all-inclusive WSS site. No more posting in just your group. We have one blog. For all.
How the new WSS blog works:
Posts: Would you like to “guest post” on the WSS blog? Find the document: Blog Calendar on the Wordsmith Studio Facebook page and click “edit” then add your name next to the date you want. The Blog Maven for the month you have chosen will contact you with dates and procedures for submitting. Full details are included in the Blog Calendar document, which will be created and posted shortly.
Prompts: Once a week, a prompt will be posted on the site and shared on Facebook. The prompts are supplied by a different group each week and all groups are encouraged to respond. Post your response to the prompt on your own blog, then comment on the blog post or on the Facebook status update with a link your blog post.
Other Immediate plans based on poll data:
A monthly update will be posted to inform you of decisions made and discussions being held. We want you to be in the know and give your input. We’ll post the updates in the Notes section of the Facebook page. If you are not a Facebook user but want to stay informed, let us know and we can email you.
