Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Prompt!
Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your creative pleasure. When you get a good flash story, memory, poem, or photo (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back here and post a link to your contribution(s) in the comments.
This Week’s Theme is: Wish You Were Here!
It’s that time of year when we take leave of our regular surroundings and travel out for relaxation and exploration. We do family trips and solo excursions, we do weekend getaways and weeks-long sabbaticals. We rent or return to lodgings, settling in to a new view like a rekindled acquaintance.
There are all manner of tacky accoutrements that accompany vacation: from overpriced sunscreen and hermit crabs to Budweiser beach towels and $2 flip flops. We carry our sticky, sandy, sunburned skin around like a badge declaring, “Been There,” and our screen printed cups, t-shirts, and koozies like receipts of “Done That.”
Send Wordsmith Studio a postcard from your vacation. Be sure to include the worst thing that happened (a blowout on the rental car) and the best thing that happened (a priceless picture with someone you only see once a year). Be sure to pack your memories in tight, tuck them around each other, weave them into one another, and fill your family, friend, and spirit bonds with the warmth of summer.
Do you have suggestions for future “Prompt” posts? Leave us a comment, or email us at email@example.com. We ♥LOVE♥ feedback!
Be sure to check back next week for more fun and new inspiration.
