Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Prompt!
Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your creative pleasure. When you get a good flash story, memory, poem, or photo (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back here and post a link to your contribution(s) in the comments.
This Week’s Theme is: Fairy WingsFaeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.
~William Butler Yeats, “The Land of Heart’s Desire,” 1894
We are closing in on the last days of summer. The laziest days when the heat has taken its toll and evenings are for sitting around a fire watching the fireflies flit through the sky. On those nights, in the quiet, the fairies dance in the dreams of those who believe. They enter to give the hope of eternal summer nights and the freedom that they bring.
What message do you hear from the beat of the fairy wings? Do you believe?
When you think of fairy wings do you think of little girls flitting through the yard wearing wings and pretending to fly? Or does it make you think of a well-loved book about fairies who can fly and instigate trouble? Does it make you think of lush green hills where the fairies live? Tell us about your connection to fairy wings.
Do you have suggestions for future “Prompt” posts? Leave us a comment, or email us here. We ♥LOVE♥ feedback!
