Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Prompt!
Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your creative pleasure. When you get a good flash story, memory, poem, or photo (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back here and post a link to your contribution(s) in the comments.
This Week’s Theme is: Procrastination
Sometimes we put stuff off because that stuff is unpleasant. Sometimes we put stuff off because it’s too hard. Sometimes we just think the weather might be better, the company improved, or our creative juices a little more active, if we just wait. For whatever reason, PROCRASTINATION is a universal human activity and more than common among writers.
One of the first lessons all successful writers impart to those of us fledgling, hopeful, aspiring writers is “Write Every Day.” Whether you’re inspired or not. Whether you have time or not. Whether what you produce is the next Moby Dick or best used when you run out of Charmin.
We love to write. We feel alive when we write. So why is it so easy to procrastinate writing? What do you do when you’re procrastinating? Use this prompt as a kick-in-the-pants to write about not writing. What’s stopping you from putting fingers to keyboard? Pen to paper? Write about it. Then post your link in the comments below, or share a snippet with the community.
Do you have suggestions for future “Prompt” posts? Leave us a comment, or email us here. We ♥LOVE♥ feedback!
Be sure to check back next week for more fun and new inspiration.
