Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Prompt!
Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your creative pleasure. When you get a good flash story, memory, poem, or photo (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back here and post a link to your contribution(s) in the comments.
This Week’s Theme is: Nightmares and Dreamscapes
Stephen King is the master of horror. He has the ability to pluck your worst nightmares straight from snooze-land while you’re still dreaming them and bring them to life on parchment.
Then, there’s that Freddy Krueger guy we all grew up loving to hate. Yup… the one that tried to kill you in your dreams.
Nightmares are made from the monsters that creep through your head just as you’re about to fall asleep. The unimaginable creatures that haunt your dreams. The shadow slowly rocking side to side in the corner of your darkened room…
In honor of Halloween… Write about that childhood nightmare that still won’t loosen its grip on your mind. Do you have a recurring dream that could scare our socks off? In the dead of night, what hair-raising thoughts does your mind evoke from the dark? Is that zombie clown really hiding under your bed?
