Welcome to Wordsmith Studio’s Weekly Prompt!
Every Thursday we’ll post a new topic for your creative pleasure. When you get a good flash story, memory, poem, or photo (or three, or five) post them to your blog, website, Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter. Then come back here and post a link to your contribution(s) in the comments.
This Week’s Theme is: Confinement
There was a time in my life when I placed myself into confinement. Not purposely…but I built a wall around my heart and mind. Year after year, I would add another row. This wall became so high that my family and friends could no longer reach me.
I didn’t even realize as I was building this wall, that I was placing myself in jail. I stayed there for many years, depressed and lonely. Then, one day…one instant…one person broke through and told me exactly what I needed to hear for me to realize that I WAS in charge of me. I needed to make a change. I had physically and mentally confined myself and it was time to set myself free.
Have you ever, in the past or present, confined yourself mentally or physically? Is there someone close to you that has confined themselves? How did you break free from confinement? How could you help someone else in this situation?
