As a child, Julia spent many Saturday mornings with her head buried in a book. As a young adult, she put her word nerd tendencies to good use and earned a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.
Although she decided to pursue careers in teaching and physical therapy, and earned two master’s degrees in the process, her love of reading and writing never faded (although four years of graduate school made pleasure reading difficult!).
Now that her children are getting older, she has started nourishing her inner word nerd again by scouring the web for writing tips and support, writing for her Word Nerd Blog, and working on her contemporary YA manuscript, Redefined.
Julia lives on a farm in the mountains of southwest Virginia with her very patient husband, four energetic children, one rescue dog, and three cats.
When she isn’t coaching soccer or providing transportation services for her children, Julia snatches moments with her laptop to write, revise, and learn from other writers in the blogosphere. She also likes to run, but it’s hard to fit in both hobbies every day!
